ABOUT THE STUDIO
John Sheppard Studio is a lighting design and ceramics practice exploring the tension between geometric precision and handmade imperfection, and the balance between sculpture and function.
Equally inspired by architecture, the urban environment, and the natural world, the studio’s work is characterized by clean geometric shapes built from ceramic slabs and extrusions.
Founded in 2013 with a small assortment of objects, the collection has since expanded to focus on lighting and sculptural work.

Before founding the studio, John spent more than a decade as an art director in the magazine industry, working for a number of publications including New York magazine, Travel + Leisure, and the Wall Street Journal.
